AGES & AGES

So as far as Portland music goes you've got it covered with my buddies here. Unfortunately there's a bunch of sub par bands that are being pushed under A&A's umbrella and wearing a bright red sash emblazoned with Portland Music Scene Are We. They are not real and they will fade and the next trend (grunge house?) that arises will swipe said sash, and Ages and Ages will remain. This band makes me smile every time I see them, and yea I used to play with Tim and Kate, and am proud of that.

This blog is so boring these days and I'm glad to have friends to remind me that great things could be just around the corner.
I had a hard time deciding which song 'cos they are all really great, but I am such a nostalgia based person, especially music wise and this is the oldest song of theirs that I remember, and lo and behold it's called....'No Nostalgia'

Time Passages

The summer, so far, has been pretty bleak here in Portland. The most rain in June since the Lakers and Celtics went head to head in the 80's. Considering the spring was as rainy as ever, most got through those doldrums with the memories of 09's endless river trips and the knowledge that those days were just around the corner. Not so much. So, with July approaching, a move in the works, an open ended recording session on the horizon, a new project awaiting in August in California, and a long overdue family visit at the doorstep, the clouds have been bringing on even more introspection than usual.

First there was the agonizing 10 year anniversary of this:

I blame Walton. Doug Collins did color for Game 6. Why Walton for Game 7?
(Doug Collins daughter Kelly was graduating DAMN!)
You shoulda known it was coming Boston.

But I digress.
I think Trial of the Century, By French Kicks is a criminally overlooked/underrated album.
And not just because I toured in the band at the time. I didn't play on the record.
It kills and predates anything by The National, or anything 'pop' bands are doing now. And they opened for them (us) in '04 for that matter.

Good times 2/4/04 NYC:

It's been a crazy last almost 11 years in Portland. I hope summer comes soon. What's next?.......................

Eugene etc.

Had a fun time in Eugene last night at the Willamette Valley Music Fest on the U of Swoosh campus. Bid farewell to our brother Wilson who at this moment is in the air en route to Brussels to slam it out for Scout Nibblett .Follow his travels over there>>> As for Los Joggz we plan to submit to the sesh and get to a recording hopefully in July upon Wilson's return. We figure it's been 5 years, why not? And we'll be playing at least one show this summer, stay tuned.

HEAVY NOVA Evidence:

Well, I don't know if I've ever had a more amazing week, and this was the capper. Hard work put in by all involved, and my sincerest gratitude goes out to the whole band: Jay Winebrenner, and Mitchell Dries, who were there at the conception, brother Ben Whitesides, and cousin Kevin O'Conner. And The Fabulous Palmer Girls: Captains, Kathleen Keogh and Maryam Hanafi Troncelliti, with Nicole Warren, Eliza Sohn, Heather Treadway and Joanna Cowan.

Thanks to Chantelle, and Jeff and everyone who came out!

Now if Steve Wilson would just get me the video from the Joggers show we can cap this off properly.......

Mississippi Recap

Just a thank you to everyone who came out to our show last night at Mississippi Studios with TV Torso and Eternal Tapestry. One of the most enjoyable shows I've had in a while and that's saying something. I'd post the setlist but most of the songs working titles are mundane, or embarrassing. Anyways....thanks.

7" Release Recap/Recovery (UPDATED)

Thanks to everybody that came out and packed the World Famous Kenton Club last night. Point Juncture WA and PAn Tourismos killed it. It felt like 2002 again, though everyone was out past their bedtimes and it wasn't smoky inside (thank gawd). Good times and all for a good cause! New jamz were jammed and hearing was lost and no Joggers drove drunk! For those that missed out we will be playing at Mississippi Studios to celebrate our nations 4/20 Holiday with our Austin buddies TV Torso. Until then enjoy this exciting clip(s)

Vienna Revisited

Nice video's from They Shoot Music Don't They? which we did after soundcheck across the street from our show at Rhiz.
Little did we know at the time that the nights show was gonna rip. What you don't get from this first clip is somewhere in the 2nd verse(?) Nick let's one slip, and I'm doing my best to not appear like I'm gonna vomit. Luckily I'm not on camera at that moment.

This one begins with an improvised nod to "Courtship of Eddy's Father Theme". Also I think I deserve some free Blazers tickets for reppin the boys so hard, so far away from home, right?

Save The Date

Ok, Ok. Contrary to a Facebook glitch, This show is on Friday February 19th. It is the Long Awaited release of The Joggers & Pan Tourismos split 7" featuring the songs "Talking at Keith" b/w "Good People". Revving up the evening will be the sexy asses of Point Juncture WA. All this excitement will be barely contained within the confines of The World Famous Kenton Club, located in the shadow of the big Paul Bunyan in the Kenton neighborhood. And the show is FREE allowing you to shell out for the sweet 7" put out by the stellar Partisan Records!

New Years Evidence

Sorry it took so long. Here's a lil visual evidence from the raucous New Years celebration at the Doug Fir. Wasn't "with it " enough to get Quasi rocking the Who 10 times harder than (what's left of) the actual Who will do at the Super Bowl. That is gonna suck so hard.

Big News tomorrow..........

Ok There's sweet video of our Nilsson cover but for some reason it will not load, it's sweet. I'll keep trying......
